Chris Gayle became the first player to hit a six of the first ball of the match. He did it when the Bangladeshi opening bowler bowled the first ball of the match today. There are two other instances when a batsman has hit six off the first ball of the innings, but not in the first innings of the match. Those two batsman are Graeme Smith off Zahir Khan and Arvinda de Silva of Kapil Dev.
